Last week our church held our Vacation Church School. We had 14 students this year all ranging from 4 years old to 10 years old. On Day One we began the morning with Morning Prayers with Father James. Then the kids were split into two groups by age range with the younger group named "Matins" and the older group named "Vespers". The craft for that day was decorating a candle. The kids enjoyed some games outside. And of course we had to have snack time. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the groups in their lesson session as I was busy with the crafts at those times. But rest assure there was a lesson as well. It was focused on the music of the church.
Day Two started out the same way with Morning Prayers. The craft for the day was making prayer and hymnal books. There was more outside games with Theresa and David. I also got some shots of the classes this time. Here's the Vespers group with their teachers, Liz and Suzie, learning all about the hymns of the church. The Matins Group started off downstairs with their teachers, Jamie and Hannah and then went up to the choir area in the nave for their lesson on hymns. The snack was enjoyed by all. An impromptu storytime was given by Leslie while the kids waited for their turn for their next activity. At the end of Day Two we wrapped up the program by singing songs from the take-home CD that every family received and the teachers and students were all recognized for their participation in this year's VCS.
