Light Rail Day One

On July 18th the Light Rail Train had it's Opening Day. The four of us decided to be part of Seattle history and ride the train that very first day. Here we are on the train. And here are some outside shots of the views we saw on the trip. I think that last picture is supposed to be Mt. Rainer but of course it didn't show up. We made it to Tukwila in about 40 minutes. The station at the airport is not quite done so the train doesn't go all the way to the airport yet. But they plan on having it done by December. Tukwila is where we first saw the big crowds. But the wait was not that bad. While we were in line a juggler came by. He entertained our girls for a few minutes. And then the line started moving and we were sent down to the platform. Where we waited another couple minutes. Isabel entertained herself by walking through Jabran's legs over and over. We then got back on the train and headed back to downtown Seattle. Here's a shot of the car we were in. This is a train just like the one we were on passing by. Khalila was getting a little bored, as you can see here. A funny thing happen on our way back. Isabel and Jabran were sitting right in front of a seattlepi.com photographer. Isabel had on one of the stickers that was being handed out on her back. While she was standing on the seat and looking out the window the photographer took her picture. He then took down Jabran and Isabel's name. So later that night Jabran goes to their website to see if the picture made the cut. He didn't find Isabel's picture, but what he did fine was this picture with the interesting caption on the homepage of the site. It was up there all weekend long. Jabran had some fun with it too.
[publisher note - Jabran] You can see a GPS tracklog of our route on the Light Rail with pics geolocated.
