Great Wolf Lodge

We just got back from our weekend at Great Wolf Lodge. We had a blast playing in the water all weekend. I didn't think we could actually be in the water that much but we were. The chlorine level was very low which was very nice, my skin is still super dry but not has bad as it could have been. We arrived Friday afternoon and first thing we did was head to the waterpark. We didn't break the camera out yet so I have no photos. We finally got the camera out for the bedtime show and storytime. Here's Isabel running down the hallway. She loved doing this. She would just run down and wave and say "Hi" to everyone she passed. She even gotten teenage boys saying "Ahh, look at the baby!" She liked running around the lobby too. There was a show at 9:00pm that we watched. It was mechanical puppets singing and talking. The speaker system was so bad I had a hard time understanding what was being said. After the show Khalila asked me what the story was about, so she didn't understand it either. Isabel had fun watching it. She danced and clapped. She actually asked me to take a picture of the tree. She kept pointing at it and then pointing to the camera. I finally figured it out and took the picture and she stopping the pointing. After the show we headed back to the room for some sleep.

Saturday morning we started off with breakfast. Isabel got a kick out of sitting in the make-shift high chair. And here we are, before 10 in the morning ready to go play in the water. Khalila's favorite spot was the Whooping Hollow Slide. She went down this slide over and over and over. It's designed for the under 48" crowd. Most slides had a requirement of being over 48". However, over 42" with an adult was allowed on a few of the bigger slides so Khalila went down those with us as she is 43" tall. The River Canyon is one of this slides. Here's a picture of the stairs that you have to climb to get to the top. This is a maze of stairs to get to the various slides. Khalila and Jabran are at the top right landing just about to go up the last flight of stairs. Here's a close up. And then here they are at the bottom. The thing Isabel enjoyed the most was the Cub Paw Pool. This is the little kiddie area that went from a 0" entry to 18" deep. She liked just walking around in knee deep water. Here's Jabran taking his turn with her. The wave pool was another big hit with Khalila. She loved floating around with her life jacket on being taken away with the waves. At the "shoreline" was some water sprouts that Isabel enjoyed. And here's Khalila and I playing with the umbrella. I got her to finally join me under there. You'll notice the pictures are looking a little foggy. That's because it's a steaming 84 degrees in the water park. The camera lens kept fogging up on us. Here's the three of us girls hanging out at the Cub Paw Pool.

Outside from the waterpark, we mainly just hung out in our room. Isabel had a favorite spot in the room. She could be found there often. Khalila enjoyed some craft projects. She colored a black velvet picture, made a stuffed frog, and painted flower magnets. Here's Hurricane Isabel knocking through some stacked boxes. On Saturday night we made ice cream. I brought ziplock bags with cream, sugar and vanilla in them. And then put them inside a gallon size bag with lots of ice and salt. Then we shook the bag until the cream froze. It didn't take that long, maybe 5 minutes. Topped with some chopped strawberries and out came a strawberry sundae from our own hotel room.

That pretty much sums up are anniversary weekend. Did I mention it was Jabran and my 11th wedding anniversary this Saturday? It was a fun family weekend. I have some videos that we shot with my camera as well. I'm going to see if I can edit them all together rather than posting three or four short clips. And to all my loyal furriestdog.com readers, I haven't forgotten about the rest of May. I plan to blog and post pictures on the weeks I have skipped. I just wanted to get these Great Wolf Lodge pictures up right away.
