April 27th - April 29th Pics
We had a major wind storm on Tuesday, April 27th. Half of Snohomish County PUD customers lost electricity. We were fine through the storm but on Wednesday morning at 8:00 AM (PDT) we lost electricity. A small tree in our front yard blew over. I went out to inspect it Wednesday morning and discovered what happened. It wasn't up-rooted. About 1' above the ground the tree had grown around a rubber hose and wire that was used when it was a sappling to hold it up. The trunk of the tree had a diameter of about 8" but only a diameter of 4" was inside the rubber hose. The rest of the trunk had grown down over the rubber hose and wasn't fused to the rest of the trunk. I borrowed my neighbor's chainsaw to cut up the tree. Electricity was restored about 1:45 AM (PDT), making this a 18 hour outage. This morning I went out and dug up the stump. It took be a little while but I got it all out.
