January 2nd Pictures
Today we had quite a day. The day before really never ended. I started out by canceling Elmer's toenail trimming appointment at Woodhaven Vet. I realized early on that that wasn't going to work out. I ran out to the store for some equipment to help with the feedings. After dealing with non-lactating store clerks and trying to figure out a new machine on my own I returned home assured that I had everything that I needed. When we fired it up, no suction. The woman forgot a very important gasket. After calling two other new Mom's I determined that I needed to return to the store to retrieve the gasket. Then my Mom called and said she didn't make her flight from Chicago to Seattle. By then Don and Leonna were already at the airport. I then spent a half hour trying to have them paged. I then made a 3:00 PM appointment for Khalila's pediatrician. Her left eye had some clear discharge and kept building up. We then got a call back from the lactation consultant so we made a 2:00 PM appointment with her. Susan from Church came over with the needed gasket and a gift for Tina. We then headed off to our 2:00 appointment. Tina sat down with the consultant and I went down to register her. After dozing off in the waiting room I got her registered and returned to the room. When I walked in I could tell that Tina was totally relieved. The consultant had spent 5 minutes with Tina and relieved 1 week of excrutiating pain. Tina had two very successful feedings in the office. We then headed for our pediatrician's appointment. We ended up 5 minutes late and had to wait an hour to see the good Doctor. We saw Dr. Schnall for the first time. He is a great doctor. He prescribed an eye ointment to clear up a clogged tear duct, which isn't unusual for a newborn. We then came home and ate dinner and I took a nap. The stew that Gerri brought over the night before was delicious, I've learned the art of crock-pot cooking. My green beans and rice will be great now. I got up at 8:00 PM to get the prescription waiting at the drug store and head for the airport. My Mom made it on flight 927 which arrived at 9:20 PM. I brought her home and introduced Sittee (my Mom) to Khalila. Sittee is the Arabic word for Grandmother. The rest of the night was pretty typical. Up and down with Khalila in between feedings.
