Sathya came over today for a visit with Khalila. She gave Khalila a very soft bear. The bear is as big as Khalila now but that won't be the case for long. We had a nice visit with Sathya. I gotta go get some more diapers....

On Sunday I went to CompUSA and purchased two Seagate 120 GB hard drives. I also purchased an Adaptec 1200 RAID controller. The two hard drives are now RAID 1 so all data is written to both hard drives. This will protect me from a mechanical failure since the data will be on both drives. It will not protect me from a virus or file system corruption. To protect from that I have created two partitions on the system drive. The OS and programs are installed on a 10GB partition and all of my data is stored on the remaining 100GB partition. I also have an 80GB disc that I will have nightly scheduled backups for all of my Images, Web files and My Documents. Josh, Naomi and Cypriana (Naomi's sister) visited on Sunday. We got Josh a bit more comfortable holding a baby, he still needs some practice but he's getting there.

On Saturday night around 20:00 hrs the system hard drive in my PC that hosts FurriestDog.com had a major failure. I tried rebooting the PC and it could not find the hard drive. I put the hard drive in another computer and it didn't see it either. The failed hard drive was very hot. I got my PC back up with a 13GB hard drive that I had upgraded from about 1 year ago. The failed hard drive was my main storage for all of my pictures. I hadn't done a full backup since 6 November 2003. Between a combination of images that were on my laptop and images that were still on my compact flash card, I only lost 3 days worth of pics, Jan 1st, 9th and 14th. There are companies that can rebuild a failed hard drive and recover the files. The best price I received for this was $1200.
